After spending months exploring the Annapurna region in late 2025 and early 2026, I realized one thing: the most memorable stays were never in big hotels. They were in small, family-run homestays where I ate dal bhat with the owners, drank homemade tea while watching the sunrise over Machhapuchhre, and felt like part of the family.
Here are my top 8 best budget homestays in Pokhara and Annapurna region that I personally stayed in or visited in 2026. All of them offer clean rooms, warm hospitality, and prices under $15 per night (including breakfast).
1. Gurung Homestay: Ghandruk (Annapurna)

The best cultural experience in the entire Annapurna region. Traditional Gurung stone house with mountain views from the balcony. Aunty cooks the most delicious organic dal bhat I’ve ever had. Highly recommended for first-time trekkers.
2. Lakeside Family Homestay: Pokhara
Price: $8 to 12 per night
Just 5 minutes walk from Phewa Lake. Clean rooms, hot shower, and a small garden. The owner is a retired teacher who loves sharing stories about old Pokhara. Perfect base for day trips.
3. Peaceful Hill Homestay: Sarangkot

Located on the way to Sarangkot viewpoint. Wake up to panoramic Himalayan sunrise from your bed. The family grows their own vegetables and serves fresh breakfast on the rooftop.

Right below Poon Hill. Traditional Magar house with warm blankets and amazing sunrise views. The grandmother here makes the best apple pie in the village.
5. Riverside Homestay: Birethanti
Price: $10 to 12 per night
Located on the Modi River bank. Perfect stop for trekkers going to Ghandruk or Annapurna Base Camp. The sound of the river helps you sleep deeply.
6. Mountain View Homestay: Dhampus

One of the most beautiful budget stays near Pokhara. Panoramic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri views from every room. The owner is a passionate photographer and can give you great trekking tips.
7. Eco-Friendly Homestay: Landruk
Price: $8 to 11 per night
Completely organic and plastic-free. The family uses solar power and grows almost everything they serve. A perfect example of sustainable tourism in 2026.
8. My Personal Favorite: Thakali Homestay in Tatopani
Price: $10 to 13 per night
Hot spring village. The Thakali family serves the most delicious apple brandy and local food. After a long trek, soaking in the natural hot spring just 2 minutes away is pure heaven.

Stay at least 2 nights to really experience the local lifestyle.
Respect their culture and help with small household work they really appreciate it.
These budget homestays in Pokhara and Annapurna gave me memories that no 5 star hotel ever could. Real food, real people, and real Nepal.
